Overview

113 Upper Richmond Road is a site bounded by varied urban morphology. The street, which initially was a mixture of mid 19th century villas and late Victorian terraces was almost obliterated by Luftwaffe bombing in 1942. Post war, each of the villa grounds were given permission for a change of use to offices which has blighted the scale and feel of the street. This redevelopment suggests how the scale of the street frontage can be repaired. The existing urban fabric is enhanced, creating new residential accommodation for private and social sectors, including retail units, offices, cafes and restaurants, which will create a benchmark for the future redevelopment of the Upper Richmond Road townscape.
