Based in Clerkenwell, London, HdAr are a 50 strong UK company with an international reach. Across 35 years we have been constantly producing and delivering incisive and beautiful design on a diverse range of projects spanning a multitude of sectors across local, national and global boundaries.
From visionary master planning through brand development, every project is formed with the same combination of skill, innovation, careful pragmatism and cost management. HdAr has worked with institutions, investors and companies across the world, successfully realising many high profile schemes. These projects demonstrate the wealth of experience that can be brought to bear for any client irrespective of location or sector.
The key is to identify the problems; explore a myriad of creative solutions then execute the refined idea with a ruthless focus. The salient idea must generate the maximum return for the investor with the minimum of risk. We are diplomats, adept and effective at securing a consensus between all contributing parties, from funders through to constructors, from government legislators to the nebulous market opportunity.
The studio’s interests lie in the pursuit of how value can be added to any project through the application of a rational process of analysis and architectural thought. Once identified, we focus on unlocking this economic potential, a process which is equally valid in any circumstances irrespective of the challenges offered by brief, scale or budget.
Our heritage, considerable experience and architectural intellect never restrains us from looking forward. Great design must be responsible. It must contribute to the quality of the environment. To do so we invest considerable time and effort into the thorough research of materials and method which can contribute to the sustainability and protection of our environment. We do not compromise these principals. As a result, we, thankfully, work with clients who share this view.
We work, with all our clients, to create effective, valuable architecture. Value to those who work or live in our buildings. Value to the environment which hosts our buildings. Value, unashamedly, to those who invest in our buildings. This results in beautiful, intelligent and responsible design that is commercially astute. Design as an instrument for the creation of value.
