Overview

King’s Cross Road is the gritty, highly trafficked thoroughfare running directly to Kings Cross train station at the junction with Euston Road. It is transient in feel and the streetscape has no cohesive urban scale due to the many disparate forms and uses to be found. The wider area is mostly residential town housing dating from the eighteenth century, with a mixture of developments from more recent times.

71-9, attempts to emulate the urban scale and feel of the late 19th century buildings on the southern edge of the site and lifts in height to meet the larger, more commercial buildings to the north. This allows the provision of 30 dwellings each with a west-facing balcony. The simple brick façade takes its reference from the adjacent warehouse.
